"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action.

It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how valuable, or how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to stay open and aware to the urges that motivate you."

It sounds like the beginning of a joke, but it isn't.  It's something that happens every month at our home on the Second Saturday of each month and the punchline goes something like this...

...and everyone enjoys having a wonderful, engaging and open discussion about spiritual topics and they eat and laugh and have fun.  That's what Second Saturday is all about.  At Second Saturday, you never know who is going to attend.  The gatherings tend to be more on the intimate side with about 6-10 people, yet the group is diverse and all viewpoints are welcomed and encouraged.  Here is what a few of our guests have said about Second Saturday:

"A place where you can ask your questions and have them discussed sanely, and without the drama.  Sometimes, the effort to ensure everyone feels respected *almost* slows the conversation -- but not by much!  The discussions frequently transcend any one religion.  They also sometimes transcend bed times."  ~ a Unitarian Universalist

"I was a very reluctant attender at first but gladly return.  I have no interest in a rancorous religious debate, but it was not that way at all.  It was an uplifting discussion. It was not emotionally charged.  And the food was good."  ~ an Atheist

"An evening that has satisfied both my spiritual and material hunger.  A warm and friendly environment with delicious potluck dishes to boot.  I'm a studying Bahá'í, so this will sound bias, but referencing the Bahá'í Sacred Scripture to guide a diverse and thought-provoking discussion has unlocked hidden mysteries and spiritual truths that otherwise would have alluded me." ~ a Bahá'í

"Second Saturday is a great time to be with people of all faiths and no faith. You get a deeper perspective of how one feels about a specific topic, but at the end, all religions are one. One thing we do know is that we were all created equally; by whichever Power we choose to believe in. As The Bahá'í Faith says 'We are all leaves of one tree.' "  ~ a Spiritual Seeker

In addition, we have had other various faiths and traditions represented including Pentecostal, Methodist, Latter Day Saints and more.  But no matter what your religious persuasion, one is sure to enjoy a healthy discussion that is both profound and enjoyable among others who seek understanding as well as varying viewpoints.

We hope our Second Saturday event and discussion of the things of the spirit will continue to evolve and grow as well as attract an even more diverse crowd as we continue to ponder life's big questions.  Maybe we'll see YOU there!

We attend the 2nd Saturday meeting because of the unity and acceptance. There aren't many places we can go and have open discussion about spiritual topics. The Ba'hai'is are diverse in race, religion and ideas. Having come from a Pentecostal background, looking into other Christian denominations, let alone religions was taboo, but learning from the Ba'hai'is has made me a better Christian. The Ba'hai'is has taught me more about unity and love than anything in my background ever could have.....
